What is a Chunnel?

A Chunnel or a chicken tunnel is a customizable, wire enclosed pathway for chickens.

It’s like a ‘Highway’ that can be moved around the yard or garden in unlimited configurations to provide fun, physical activity and access to new and different locations for your chickens.

Chunnels allow your birds to roam, graze and explore safely, by protecting them from attack by other animals, and keeping them from entering unwanted areas.

Chunnels aren't just good for the birds—they're good for your garden too. Your flock will double as all-natural weed and bug killers. While at the same time fertilizing the soil in your garden.

Chunnels give your chickens extra space to roam where they normally wouldn’t be allowed to go in a garden. This gives them access to all the tasty edibles that they can find to supplement their diet.

When you place the chunnels around your lawn, flower beds, or garden, your flock will keep the grass trimmed down, eat the weeds and bugs that may wreak havoc on your plants, all the while depositing ‘fertilizer’ at the exact place it is needed. Chicken manure contains essential nutrients for many plants to thrive.

With Chunnels All this happens organically without damage to your yard or garden.

Just set your chicken tunnels up to follow the yard's fence line, the garden's perimeter, or right down the rows. Then let your chickens go to work.

One of the great features of chicken tunnel’s is that they are movable. By relocating your tunnels periodically, you will provide fresh areas for your chickens to scratch and peck. And of course, this will keep weeds from growing in your garden, bugs under control, and the grass trimmed down.

Also, if you have a run and coop connected by tunnels it’s easy to relocate the run without moving the coop.

With Chicken Condo Chunnels you can be creative and design something totally unique. Mix and match coops, tunnels, runs and options to customize a habitat that your chickens will love.

Chicken tunnels are constructed using heavy duty, powder coated, 3/16” welded 2” x 2” wire. The tunnels are 12” wide x 16” tall so they’re big enough for the largest of chickens to turn around or to pass each other.  They are open on the bottom, providing obstruction free access for the chickens to scratch and peck at the ground.

Chunnels come in 4’, 6’ and 8’ lengths along with 90-, 45- and 22-degree turns so you can design a lay out that fits your needs. Or just order one of our preconfigured sets such as:

“The Garden Chunnel”

It includes: 1 epic modern coop or 1 Coop D’ville chicken coop, 2 covered runs and the tunnel system. “The Garden Chunnel” provides plenty of room to roam while still protecting your chickens and garden. The two 4’x4’ covered runs provide shade from the sun, and protection from snow and rain, while the insulated epic modern coop or coop d’ville chicken coop will house 8 or more chickens.

The Garden Chunnel kit comes in many sizes depending on how big your garden is. From 8’ x 8’ up to 24’ x 24’ or even larger if desired.

That’s a ton of space.

“The Garden Deer Fence Chunnel”

Assembly is simple

The four sides of the run enclosure come connected like an accordion. Simply stand in place and connect the last corner with zip ties. Then attach the top with zip ties. Tunnels simply pop up, and U braces are secured with zip ties to keep them strong and sturdy.

Disclaimers

Pre-configured Chicken tunnel/runs have the required holes cut for the attaching tunnels. However, because we do not know the configuration of your yard. We do not cut an entry hole in your chicken run or the coop. Therefore, you will need to cut the entry access hole on site.

Anything ordered al la cart will not have precut holes. We do offer a hand-held hack saw or mini bolt cutters to facilitate cutting holes and a file to take off sharp edges on the accessory page.

Please note canvas tops are flat and will not drain. Do not place coop downhill from the canvas top chicken run. Rain water runoff will be channeled directly into the coop and might cause the coop to take on water inside the coop.
